Get to Know Dr. Michael O’Brien

Dr. O’Brien loves becoming a part of a dental patient’s healthcare team and helping them achieve optimal oral and overall health through his work. He’s seen firsthand how dentistry can change someone’s life and smile for the better, so he works hard to educate himself and only deliver the highest quality and most personalized dental treatment possible. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. O’Brien first became interested in dentistry when he was just five years old, thanks to the influence of his orthodontist uncle as well as his mother. She helped run the Tulsa County Dental Society for many years, and they both showed him how impactful and fulfilling a dental career could be.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. O’Brien attended the University of Oklahoma before going on to complete dental school at the University of Las Vegas Nevada School of Dental Medicine. Afterward, Dr. O’Brien worked in Indian Health where he was selected as the region’s clinician of the year in 2018.

Since then, he has received advanced training in dental implants from the Misch Resnik International Implant Institute and become a Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists. He is SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) certified and a member of the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology).

Dr. O’Brien is a certified naturopath through the American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry and is board certified in Integrative Biologic Dental Medicine. He also has his certificate from the Ben-Pat Institute for treating orofacial pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, and sleep disorders (including snoring and sleep apnea) and is a CEREC Doctors Mentor.

On top of this, Dr. O’Brien is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and has attended the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). He currently pursuing continuing education through both Spear Education and the KOIS Center as well.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. O’Brien and his wife, Sarah, have two boys, Quinn and Case. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching OU football, and reading. He is also passionate about fitness (running and weightlifting) and clean eating.
